PHP Books

< Back to Books home page

Web Application Development with PHP 4.0 was one of the first PHP books I read that talked in terms of application frameworks instead of how to use a couple of tags to make a dynamic page. Not the best book to start with, but far more valuable to a developer than "Dummies in 15 Minutes" kind of books.

Sometimes I like to have a veteran coder in a given language around to bounce some ideas off of. David Sklar's PHP Cookbook essentially helps me to do that, even when I'm all alone. Good reference book.
